In 2005 I moved my family to the Gold Coast Hinterland, Qld, Australia.  This was probably the closest to the city I had ever lived.  My initial plan was to set up a touring educational show to give city raised children an insight into what farmers do. In doing this we had a number of people in trouble with their dogs coming to us at displays with stories of dogs that were in need of help. Its was more that these people did not know or understand how these dogs think and behave as they grow up that had caused a lot of the problems than anything else.

What I did find was hundreds of  people with working bred dogs - there were border collies, kelpies, cattle dogs, shepherds and other of dogs running around getting into mischief and causing their owners no end of trouble. 

This was a curious thing for me because it was nothing for me to run between 10 and 15 dogs at any time and I didn't have problems.  I then found people asking my advice.  Commencing with a small group on a Sunday morning I would teach the owners about living with working dogs. More about their dogs needs and wants. This is what I use to create a well balanced and obedient dog. Now of course many of these people had been to obedience lessons on the coast and had been very disappointed with the results.  What I was teaching them was something totally different - they were techniques I used to raise my working dogs.

The word spread and soon I was running classes all over Brisbane during the week and providing private obedience lessons to frustrated dog lovers. Due to time commitments with my job in running a 3500 ac. property and demand from people all over the world, I decided to make a DVD so I could help more people to reach there goals of having a well mannered dog anywhere.

There is a huge need for basic understanding of how working bred dogs (all dogs really) grow and develop both in the mind and the body.  A need for a special set of techniques that give you results without food.
In the end, a well mannered dog that is quick to learn and please anywere any time regardless of what you do or where you live.

The first DVD is entitled "The Untold Secrets of Raising Working Dogs".  This educational DVD will give you a true understanding of the growing stages of your dog.  Why things happened in the past, what will come next and very specific techniques for raising and living with your working bred dog through all their stages, whether in the city or the country.  My greatest aim is to have dog owners living in peace and harmony with their dogs.

His (Eric's) courses are more about enjoying your dog and if you want to go further with sheep trialling he will help, if not that's good as well.  It's about enjoying and understanding what your dog is bred to do and having to live with it as well!  The DVD is good that in a way it explains or helps you to understand how to get into the head of a working dog.  Many inexperience people get a hold of these working dogs and they become too much for them and they are either rehomed/pounded.
